how to create an electronic
version of your newsletter

Although these newsletters are designed to be printed and mailed (because that's how you'll get the best return on investment), it is possible to use them to contact your clients by email.

Remember, all the content can be edited and used as you wish.

Here are 4 ways to send newsletters by email:

1) Use the HTML version of the newsletter I have provided.

  1. Download the file from the newsletter download page.

  2. Either open the file in Notepad or View Page Source in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

  3. In your email software, create a new message and select the option for inserting HTML.

  4. Paste the HTML code into your email.

  5. Edit the email to add your address and contact details. Remember to include your phone number and email address in all the places provided.

  6. Remember, emails that you send to people must have an option to unsubscribe on them, otherwise you may be breaking anti-spam laws.

Note: If you are sending emails, I highly recommend an email sending service. The service I use, Aweber, provides an easy way to manage your contact list and send emails. It also helps emails get delivered and not trapped in spam filers. Find out more about Aweber here. Anyone who signs up after clicking the link above will get free support from me with setting up your email sending system.

2) Create a PDF file of the newsletter and email it as an attachment.

PDF files are the best way to share documents. To convert your newsletter, use www.zamzar.com. It's free. Then you can send the file as an attachment to your clients.

3) Create a PDF file of the newsletter and allow clients to download it from your website

Create a PDF file, as above. When you email your clients, give them a link on the website where they can download the latest newsletter. This is the best way to avoid your emails becoming trapped in spam filters.

4) Display the content electronically on your site like a magazine

If you've visited the website belonging to a glossy magazine, you've probably seen an online facsimile of the magazine - a little widget they use to allow you to "flip" pages of the real magazine...but online.

That kind of technology was quite expensive. But now there's a website, called Issuu, that is doing the same thing...for free.

It's a great way to put your newsletter online. What you need to do is create a PDF of the document, upload it to Issuu and then embed it on your site.

Here's one I made earlier. Click on it to get a bigger version. (You can also embed the larger version direct on your site, with a little HTML coding.)
